About Our Lab . . .

Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic demylinating disease of the central nervous system.  Current work in the lab focuses on understanding psychopathological consequences of MS, such as depression, suicidality, anxiety, and factors contributing to coping well or poorly with MS.  We have an ongoing natural history study of psychopathology that has 840 patients enrolled.  We have a number of studies focused on the neuropsychology of MS, including projects in which we are developing accurate and brief neuropsychological screening tests, developing and validating measures of cognitive fatigue, evaluation relationships between motor function and cognitive function, and understanding factors relating to cognitive decline.  In addition, we have a number of studies looking at sexual dysfunction, including relations between disease related factors, sexual function, and body image, quality of life, and mood.  We are also conducting a randomized clinical trial focusing on brief treatment of sexual function that is currently under way.
